Itinerary:
First Day: The culture of wine.
Pick up at Venice Mestre Station, Venice Marco Polo Airport, Verona or Padua Station, or other locations on request.
Our itinerary begins in Verona, visiting the complex of the Provianda di Santa Marta, located in the Veronetta district in the historic center of the city of Verona. A historic building that in the mid-nineteenth century was "production center of bread and biscuits" for the entire Austrian army engaged in Italy and today houses a Department of the University of Verona for the enhancement of the territory).
At mid-morning we will move to San Pietro In Cariano, a municipality located in the center of Valpolicella Classica, a splendid Veronese valley famous for the five Amarone crus that tell in each glass the wonders of each of the five sub-valleys that compose it winding in parallel with each other from north to south.
We will be welcomed in a famous gourmet pastry shop belonging to the EAT VENETO network where the multi-decorated owner (Master of the Excellence Team, conferred by the International Federation of Pastry, Ice Cream and Chocolate, and great protagonist in various national competitions on panettone), in addition to letting us taste the delicacies she prepares in her laboratory "rigorously" in sight will tell us one of the "most beautiful villages in Italy" of Veneto.
We continue our morning visiting the nearby Villa Lebrecht (splendid Venetian villa dating back to 1400) where the first branch in Veneto of the degree course in viticultural and oenological sciences and technologies of the University of Verona has recently been established, where young wine experts are trained who will bring to the winemakers a breath of modernity both in quality management and sustainability processes.
For lunch we will move to Fumane (wide variety of landscapes: in the lower floor expanses of vineyards together with slopes of olive trees and pine forests, in the hills cherries and orchards and in the mountain part woods and meadows), where we will get to know a family of "niche" winemakers who for four generations has dedicated themselves to the cultivation of the vine and the production of excellent wines handed down from father to son an exceptional experience of the territory and the secrets of the art of making wine.
The current winemaker, who since 2010 has taken the reins of the company together with his wife and who is part of the EAT VENETO Network, will passionately tell us his story and his way of conceiving wine to be able to offer "ancient" and "modern" red wines, DOC and IGT, both "immersed" in the family tradition and "inspired" by it.
In a splendid cellar full of oak barrels we can taste the excellence of the company, also through targeted "vertical" tastings, combining them with typical products of local cuisine such as, for example, the "Cotechino and Pearà" and, if we want, we can also make unusual experiences, such as that of "gentle gymnastics", to learn how to eliminate pain without using drugs.
After settling in the hotel for a short relaxation, in the evening we will have dinner in a restaurant of the EAT VENETO Network in the center of Verona, with spaces overflowing with products like a shop and welcoming like a tavern. We will be followed by real professionals who love to be transparent like their open kitchen, where the preparation of dishes is always expressed, in an atmosphere of relaxation and history, tasting a menu linked to tradition and a wine list that looks at the genuineness of the production of winemakers and other Venetian producers belonging to our network.
At night, return to the hotel and overnight.
Second day: The culture of extra virgin olive oil
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Grezzana, in Valpantena, divided from Valpolicella by a wonderful chain of sweets, green hills where DOC vineyards and expanses of olive groves follow one another.
Here we will visit a prestigious family olive farm of the EAT VENETO Network, of wide scope both nationally and internationally, which has its origins at the end of the nineteenth century and which has marked its production processes in the name of total SUSTAINABILITY (in fact, BIO wines such as the award-winning Amarone and a Valpolicella DOCG of both organic and vegan quality are also produced by the company).
Accompanied by the owners we will visit the company observing the entire production cycle, which starts from the totally manual harvest of the olives and ends with the bottled packaging of extra virgin olive oil. The GARDA DOP EVO OIL produced stands out for its naturally delicate flavor, for the harmony of its organoleptic notes and for the light and balanced aromas that give it a natural elegance.
In the nearby Mezzane di Sotto (25 'transfer), we will visit an ancient oil mill restored by the company that uses the original millstones, a visit followed by a lunch in the adjacent splendid inn of the same property.
In mid-afternoon return to Negrar relax.
In the evening we will reach nearby Verona for a gourmet dinner in a prestigious historic restaurant followed by a walk to discover the many souls of Verona.
