Como Lake, the Valtellina Valley, St Moritz and the Bernina Express.
Three unforgettable days, a slow panoramic train, snow-capped mountains, enchanted valleys, alpine lakes and elegant villages.

Itinerary
- Day 1 – From Milan or Como to Tirano.
- Day 2 – Take the Bernina Express to St Moritz (or Coira) and guided visit of the city.
- Day 3 – Return to Tirano by train and onto Como or Milão
- Day 1 – Milão or Como to Tirano
Departing from Como
Travelling along the shores of the Como side of the Lake and passing through the beautiful Cernobbio, Tramezzina (and maybe an optional excursion to the beautiful Villa Balbianello), Tremezzo (optional excursion to Villa Carlotta) we arrive at Menaggio where we will stop for a short visit to the ancient village.
A coffee, an ice cream or an aperitif and then we continue to the extreme north of the Colico branch, where the River Adda flows into the Lake, where one of the most beautiful Italian valleys begins, the Valtellina.
Departing from Milan:
Travelling beside the Colico branch of the lake and passing through Lecco, Mondello we arrive at Varenna, and visit this small medieval jewel (and maybe an optional boat excursion to Bellagio). After a coffee break, we continue our journey to Colico, a beautiful town where the River Adda flows into the waters of the Lake and where one of the most beautiful Italian valleys begins, the Valtellina.
Continuation, from Como or Milan:
Valtellina has a great culinary tradition: Wine from the southern slopes, apples, cheeses and meats of the highest quality such as Bitto and Bresaola and the pride of Valtellina cuisine, Pizzocchero, buckwheat pasta, Cut by hand and served with melted butter, homemade cheese and vegetables. In Teglio there is the Pizzocchero Academy, which preserves and promotes the original recipe, organizes events and courses for the preparation of the real and unique Pizzocchero di Teglio.
Here in Teglio we will also stop to taste the products of Valtellina during the stop for lunch, and then continue following the course of the Adda that cuts the Alps horizontally, among vineyards, mountain pastures and small villages that in summer are crowded with hikers and d winter of skiers.
After lunch of local Valtellina cuisine, we arrive in Tirano in the afternoon and make our way to our accomodation.
- Day 2 – Bernina Express and St Moritz(or Coira)
The next morning we board the Bernina Express, the gentle and panoramic train with breathtaking views across the Alps, and get to St. Moritz in Switzerland in just over two hours *(see note on intermediate stops). From the station we to the historic centre of the famous Swiss city to leave our luggage at the hotel, then straight out to explore St Moritz and enjoy the beauty of the Alps and the Canton of Graubünden.
Daytime sightseeing options:
- Climb the Piz Corvatsch, the cable car takes you to the top of the Corvatsch, the highest station in the Eastern Alps.
- Visit a historic cheese factory, where the cheese is produced with traditional methods.
- Day 3 – St Moritz – Tirano – Milão or Como
Late morning we take the reverse route to Tirano, and direct you to your private transport for the return to Como or to another destination.
**If you want to stop at some of the stations along the line, to have lunch, take a walk and some photos, you need to take regional train. The Bernina Express does not give this option. Our advice is to do one way with the panoramic Bernina Express and the other with the regional train with lunch stop. Both trains take the same amount of time.
